ALLENDALE, NJ – Today GI Nutrition has announced that Casey Kelly, the #1 prospect in the San Diego Padres organization has joined the GI Nutrition Athlete Team.  Casey Kelly was a key factor in the recent Red Sox – Padres trade that brought Adrian Gonzalez to Boston.

In the 2008 draft, the Red Sox choose Casey Kelly with the 31st overall pick in the 1st round. Casey, primarily a right-handed starting pitcher, proves his athleticism and talent through his work on the mound and in the middle infield at shortstop. Casey was drafted out of high school and pursued professional baseball over a scholarship to play quarterback at the University of Tennessee.

During his time with the Red Sox, Casey was awarded the 2009 Red Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award and the 2010 Portland Sea Dogs Pitcher of the Year award. Casey is currently ranked by Baseball America as the #1 prospect in the Padres Organization and the 19th overall prospect in baseball by ESPN’s Keith Law.
